The 2277 Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps launched in September 2010 under Commanding Officer Captain Mary Ward. We ended the first training year with 32 cadets in June 2011. We currently have over 60 cadets on parade and are currently parading at HD Stafford Middle School.
Our Cadets have been involved in a range of activities including weekend field training exercises, community service, expeditions, marksmanship, pipe and drum band, and community parades. Many of our cadets have the opportunity to attend spring and summer training camps that are fully paid for by the Department of National Defence. Our cadets have attended camps in Vernon and Esquimault, BC, Cochrane, AB, Whitehorse, YT , Blackmore, ON,
Previously, the Seaforth Corps have hosted cadets from Scotland in the Lower Mainland. In return a small number of select cadets are chosen to travel to Scotland as part of the Canada-Scotland exchange. Many cadets from corps throughout BC work to earn a coveted spot on the Scotland exchange.
As of the Spring of 2018, the 2277 Corps actively participates in the international Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award programme, enabling cadets 14 years and older to obtain Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver & Gold awards.
